Materials Management Facility

The project included site selection, programming, design, and construction phase services for a materials management facility to store, consolidate, package, and ship hazardous wastes from University operations. Interactive design sessions were used to facilitate input from project stakeholders. Wiley|Wilson presented to the University’s Board of Visitors, Virginia Art and Architectural Review Board, and Bureau of Capital Outlay Management, and an Environmental Impact Review.

Highlights include: incorporated sustainable design elements; architectural design expresses functional attributes and surroundings; special systems, including spill containment, fire protection and blast resistant construction in certain areas, emergency power, ventilation and alarm systems, and other special building features appropriate for this facility function.
