Floyd Innovation Center

The Economic Development Authority of Floyd County (FCEDA) received grant funds to build and outfit the Floyd Innovation Center to be located on lots six and seven in the Floyd Regional Commerce Park. The Floyd Innovation Center provides office and “cleanroom” facilities for innovative startup or emerging companies in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, or other high technology industries requiring good laboratory/good manufacturing (GMP) ready practices.

Wiley|Wilson incorporated energy efficient and sustainable design strategies wherever feasible. Strategies that promote minimal environmental impact, advanced energy efficiencies, reduced water consumption, practical landscaping, and other “green” technologies were of particular interest to the FCEDA. The HVAC system features high-efficiency split system heat pumps and electric unit heaters. Domestic hot water is generated by thermal solar panels installed on the roof. Ease of maintenance and economy of operation of the facility were essential when considering the design of this project.
