Wiley|Wilson Named ESOP Company of the Year
Wiley|Wilson has been named the ESOP Company of the Year by The National ESOP Association (TEA). TEA announced the award at its national conference in Washington, DC. Wiley|Wilson was named the Mid-Atlantic & Carolinas Chapter (MACC) Company of the Year and was among 19 other chapter-level winners eligible for this honor.
According to TEA, this annual award recognizes an ESOP company for demonstrating “a strong commitment to employee ownership through involvement with The ESOP Association and its programs, clear communication with employees, and a commitment to the ESOP Association’s vision of endorsing employee participation, wealth creation, and individual dignity and worth.”
“This is an incredible recognition and we are honored the National ESOP Association selected Wiley|Wilson for this prestigious award,” said Neil McSweeney, Wiley|Wilson President and CEO. “Since becoming employee-owned more than 20 years ago, we have made a consistent, deliberate effort to build a culture centered around the ideals of ownership and what it means to ‘act like an owner.’ Receiving this award is confirmation that our efforts are not going unnoticed — both internally and externally.”
Developing and maintaining an ownership mindset is a primary goal for employee-owners at Wiley|Wilson — and one the company emphasizes across the board. “At the heart of our culture is a shared understanding of ownership and common commitment to supporting each other and being accountable to one another,” Neil added. “All employee-owners recognize that success is shared, so everyone approaches their work and projects with that underlying motivation.”
Educating employee-owners on how the ESOP operates and the benefits it provides is an ongoing objective. Wiley|Wilson regularly communicates the unique value proposition the ESOP offers. Clear and consistent communication focuses on the plan, its benefits, and what employee-owners can do to affect the share value. Through workshops, seminars, and financial updates, employee-owners get a clear view of how the ESOP contributes to their personal financial goals.
Wiley|Wilson has been named company of the year by the Mid-Atlantic & Carolinas Chapter (MACC) of the ESOP Association numerous times, but this marks the first time receiving the national honor.
