Wiley|Wilson Employee-owners Raise $8,500 for Different Charities
Wiley|Wilson recently auctioned off its company vehicles to employee-owners, and the funds collected were donated to two very important charities: $7,500 for the American Red Cross’s Disaster Relief fund and $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. Nathan Wittkamp, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Blue Ridge, was on hand to personally accept the check.
“Wiley|Wilson employee-owners time and time again show their generosity and we are pleased to have had this opportunity to support the communities where we operate,” said Mac Frankfort, Vice President and CFO.
The American Red Cross donation was specifically earmarked for “disaster relief.” According to Nathan, this is the fund that the organization uses the most, helping those displaced by fires or affected by natural disasters, like hurricanes and tornadoes. “Because this fund is the one used most often, the account is always in need of donations,” Nathan added.
The Red Cross responds to an emergency every eight minutes, and 91 cents of every dollar donated is spent on relief efforts and programs. To learn more about the emergency relief services the American Red Cross provides, click here.
