Wiley|Wilson-designed Innovation Center Opens in Floyd County
.
The Floyd Innovation Center, for which Wiley|Wilson provided A-E services, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 22 to mark the official opening of the new facility. Wiley|Wilson partnered with Floyd County to design the facility, working with them since 2012 to design a space that will attract businesses to the area, while complementing the natural beauty of the county’s surroundings.
“We are very pleased that the Floyd Innovation Center has been completed and tenants can now begin taking advantage of the unique features that the facility provides,” said Randy Vaughan, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Wiley|Wilson Vice President, Department Manager, Architectural. Randy served as project manager for the Floyd Innovation Center. “The new Floyd Innovation Center will enable the county to leverage its assets to create more jobs and continue growing the area’s economy.”
Wiley|Wilson provided architecture and engineering design services for the project. The energy-efficient design incorporates several sustainable features insulated panels and solar hot water.
“It was important to both our firm and Floyd County that the design embrace the surrounding area, so many of the building’s components are locally sourced,” Randy added. This includes the timber frame, structural insulated panels, and the siding.
The completed facility features leasable spaces available in various configurations that can be used for R&D, production, data services, or office space. A conference room, kitchenette, and multipurpose room are also on-site, and tenants will have access to robust telecom connectivity.
