Energy Conservation: Opportunities for Local Governments

Owen Speaking at WorkshopHosted by Region 2000’s Local Government Council and the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association, a Sustainable Communities Workshop was held August 6, 2009 in Bedford, Virginia.

The workshop featured presentations and panel discussions on best practices and experiences from local communities on issues facing local governments, including:

          • water supply planning
          • historic and open space preservation
          • broadband connectivity for rural areas
          • energy-saving initiatives
