Staunton Improvements for the North River Raw Waterline - Augusta County between the Staunton Reservoir and the City of Staunton, Virginia

The North River Waterline extends approximately 12.7 miles from the City of
Staunton to the Staunton Reservoir. The majority of the waterline was
constructed of 16-inch cast iron pipe that was installed in the mid 1920s. The
waterline was field located and the locations of air release valves and blow-off
valves were documented. A corrosion study was performed to determine the
condition of the existing waterline. Four permanent access vaults will be
constructed at various locations along the waterline and the air release and
blow-off valves will be replaced. Approximately 58,000 feet of the 16-inch
waterline will be cleaned by pigging. In addition, a meter will be installed at
the Staunton dam to record flow in the waterline.
