American University Nebraska Hall Remodel - Washington, DC
The project involves the renovation of the 48,375 SF Nebraska Hall building
to convert all floors into a suite style residence hall for 115 students.
Individual suites include kitchen areas, lounges, bathrooms and bedrooms.
Support spaces include laundry areas, study and meeting rooms. The building was
originally constructed around 1960 as a private nursing home. It was purchased
by American University in the early 1980’s for use as a student dormitory
building. Since minimal interior renovation work had been performed on the
building, this design was a complete renovation.
Wiley|Wilson was responsible for the architectural, mechanical,
electrical, civil and structural design. In addition to the interior
improvements, the design included window replacement and exterior redesign to
enhance the building’s appearance. The project is a design-bid-build project. As
the lead designer, Wiley|Wilson was responsible for all phases of the
design.
