Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Cooling Tower Replacement - Richmond, Virginia

Wiley|Wilson designed the replacement of two existing cooling towers and their support structure. A new support structure and multiple cooling towers with an aggregate total of 1500 ton capacity were installed. The towers are connected by a common manifold and valving system so any combination of towers can be used to provide cooling to any or all installed chillers. The number of towers, the support structure, manifold system were designed and specified to provide expansion of the cooling tower system by an additional identically-sized tower at a later date to raise the total cooling capacity to 2000 tons. Cross flow towers allow the air conditioning system to be used in winter if necessary. Variable speed fans and pumps were also installed.
