Stormwater Separation Projects - Lynchburg, Virginia

Wiley|Wilson has provided evaluation, design, and permitting of over 45 stormwater separation projects within urbanized areas. The projects have included the design of over 50 miles of storm and sanitary sewer design that met the EPA standards and enabled the elimination of over 110 overflow points in the system. Included in many project areas was the design of best management practices (BMP’s) to reduce nutrient and sediment loading within the project basins. The urbanized nature of the project areas required innovative solutions to stormwater design. Stormwater solutions have included bio-retention, extended detention, filtration, hydrodynamic separation, and underground detention. Project designs were integrated with the requirements of City of Lynchburg stakeholders, DEQ, VDH, and local residents to provide cost effective solutions that minimize community impacts. The total construction cost of the projects is over $200 million.
