National Foreign Affairs Training Center Child Care Facility - Arlington, Virginia
As part of a major expansion of the National Foreign Affairs Training Center, Wiley|Wilson provided full mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the renovation and addition to the campus’ child care center. The scope included the renovation of the existing 6,500 SF child care center and the addition of 7600 SF to accommodate approximately 100 occupants.

In order to achieve a LEED Silver Certification, the energy consumption for the addition was reduced below code requirements. This was accomplished through the use of improved envelope construction, reduced lighting power, and a high-efficiency HVAC system.
Additional design features include water-saving plumbing fixtures to reduce consumption below code requirements and an efficient lighting system design. The lighting system design includes a main lighting control panel for scheduled on/off with local override switches and high efficiency luminaires.
