Dam and Spillway Repairs for Stumpy Lake Dam - Virginia Beach, Virginia

Wiley|Wilson prepared construction drawings and specifications for modifications required to bring Stumpy Lake Dam into compliance with the Virginia Dam Safety Regulations. The modifications included: removing trees on dam embankment; raising the crest of the dam approximately two feet; re-grading the upstream and downstream embankment; constructing toe drains along the downstream embankment; protecting the upstream face with riprap; replacing the concrete sidewalls and resurfacing the slab of the spillway; replacing the low level drain valve and vault; and installation of a wooden platform walkway in the lake for recreational enhancements. The construction period was from spring 2009 to summer 2010, with a total cost of $2 million.
