American University McDowell Hall Renovation - Washington, DC
Wiley|Wilson provided design of interior renovations to the residence and common areas in the McDowell Hall dormitory. Services included architectural, mechanical and electrical design of new interior finishes throughout the building and reconfiguration of the 1st floor lobby and office areas. All existing building finishes and fixtures throughout the building were refurbished or replaced while maintenance upgrades were performed to select building systems.
Wiley|Wilson upgraded the existing HVAC system and specified a new 100% outside air ventilation air handling units to provide ventilation through hallways of the dormitory. Energy recovery systems were also implemented into the outside air units to assist in making the existing equipment more efficient. Additionally, a new fire pump for the sprinkler system was installed, the emergency generator was replaced with new higher efficiency unit and DDC control system was upgraded.
